Good barr hog bayed by my Spur dog.
I had an invite to hunt a water management hunt with some friends. I didn't hunt Monkey as we had more dogs out than what I normally hunt and Monkey gets catchy with several dogs out. Anyway, three of us went one way and two other guys went another. There were 4 dogs out with us and about that number out with the other two guys. We heard Spur bay in the palmettos, then a pig squealing. We get there and the dogs have a small shoat caught. We get the dogs off and move on. We get a call on the radio from the other two guys that they can hear a single dog bayed south of us. We can't hear the dog, but they said it sounded like Spur. We headed that way and got to where we could hear the dog and it was Spur, and he was baying every breath. This is about midnight. We got close, the other dogs went to him and all 4 dogs started baying...usually not a good sign! Just about the time the lights shined the hog, the dogs caught and this is what it was. A 242 lb barr hog with good teeth!
Spur is sired by my Monkey dog and out of an old female I had named Chelsea. Chelsea was Dixie's aunt, in that Dixie's mother and Chelsea were littermate sisters.
